These are descriptions of some of the events
in our shows and events that we compete in:
UNDERHAND CHOPPING
The gal's stand on top of a log mounted in a metal stand and
chop through the log. They begin on one side, chop half way
through, then turn and complete the chop. This event takes
great skill and accuracy, it is very technical. The use 6#,
razor sharp racing axes from Australia or New Zealand.
AXE THROWING
The ladies throw at a round target that is 20 feet away. The
center of the target is 5 feet off the ground. They use a
2.5 lb. double-headed axe from New Zealand. Each contestant
takes one practice throw and then 3 scoring throws.
ONE WOMAN CROSS-CUT SAWING
One Jill Cross-cut saws through a slice of wood using a 5'6"
long saw. Stamina, skill and determination are what is needed
here. This is one of the toughest events in competition.
JILL & JILL CROSS-CUT SAW-ING
Two Lumberjills Cross-Cut saw through a slice of wood using
a 5'6" long double-handled saw. Speed, skill and determination
are very important. The saws are state of the art Peg &
Rakers or M-tooths.
BOW /BUCK SAWING
One Jill uses an old-fashioned, bowed saw to cut through one
clice. You must cut straight.... or you might not complete
the disc. It is fast and furious!
HOT SAWING
Don't close your eyes, but cover your ears for this fast and
powerful race. Two Stihl 046 modified stock saws, stinger
pipes and all, are used in this event as 2 Jills try to best
each other in a 3 cut race.....DOWN....UP....DOWN. Get rrrrrready
for the action!
LOG ROLLING
This was the favorite event of the North American logger to
compete in and still is the favorite to watch! 2 Lumberjills
battle it out on the top of a spinning Western Red Cedar log!
Out of all the skills we compete in, this is the hardest to
learn as an adult. Agility, perserverance and stamina are
skills needed to be a great roller....Thrills, spills and
excitement are what YOU will experience!
